Preschool (ages 3-4) & Kindergarten

Class Schedule

9:00 – 9:15

Outdoor free play or Indoor (inclement weather) free play, which includes: Children may play independently with cars, trucks, puzzles, dolls, blocks, coloring or writing, etc., which increases fine motor skills or small groups which encourage peer interaction, sharing and verbal communication problem solving.

Individual/Small Group Puppet theatre which includes dramatic play and dress up materials.

9:15 — 9:35 Circle Time — Whole Group

Activity — Calendar; weather; sound of the week and music. Calendar and weather incorporates counting; learning days of the week; the four seasons and songs corresponding to sound of the week. These activities encourage language and math skills as well as social skills by being able to sit in a group setting and taking turns using rules for socialization.

9:40 Snack – Whole Group

Manners and fine motor skills

9:50 Learning Centers — Individual and Small Groups

Practical Life — fine motor and gross motor skills through use of manipulative materials, perfects child attention span and concentration. Activities in this area include stringing beads; dressing frames; building materials and art which includes painting, drawing, cutting and gluing.

Sensorial – materials promote fine and gross motor skills using pink tower/brown stairs for size differentiation – color matching and mystery bag for category classification. Sound cylinders for soft to loud, touch tablets for hard to soft. — (small group).

Math — Number reproduction, sand paper numbers 1 through 10, numerals and matching quantity with symbol using manipulative materials. Teen numbers up to 100 — pattern recognition. Beginning addition with manipulatives on to abstract. Introduce clock work — telling time.

Language — Sound bags — letter and sound association. Sand paper letters, letter recognition and reproduction, Small groups with moveable alphabet, three letter phonetics on to independent reading. Copy books — Individual – letter reproduction and creative writing, journal writing — picture with story.

Geography — Small group — one country explored monthly — focusing on cultural customs, food, dress, recognition of flag and animals.

Science — Small Group — differences in seasons and with weather; living and nonliving; plants; nature walks and simple experiments to explore cause and effect, i.e., sink and float, volcano eruption, color blending, etc.
Health — Nutrition — food groups, dental care and hygiene.

Spanish — Small group – nomenclature — animals, colors, seasonal words.

Movement — Dancing, sittercize (exercises appropriate for 3-5 year old’s), talent shows, yoga, balance beam, bean bag tossing.

11:15 – 11:30 – Outside free play

1:30 — 12:00 Lunch —Table manners

12:00 — 12:30

Outdoor play (weather permitting) gross motor skills. Free play: materials provided for playing soccer, baseball, small group interaction, cooperation and sharing

12:30 – Half Day Dismissal

Story Time – Puppet Theatre – verbalization through puppets and storytelling.

12:45 – 2:15

Learning Centers: Math – Practical Life – Sensorial – Language – Art

2:15 – Snack – Outdoor Play – Gross Motor Skills

2:50 – Full Day Program Ends – Children Picked Up

3:00 – School Closes
